After signing the Treaty of Versailles, Saionji and his retinue left for home. Instead of going straight back, Konoe parted with the delegation and traveled in France and Germany. On his way he stopped to visit Bonn. As one might expect of a university town, Bonn was not boisterous like other cities. An ideal place for study.
